I get a lot of calls and enquiries each week for my services. Today before I got up I already had 4 people asking to speak with me.
They just have a question or two to ask about something I might not have made clear, and then they just hire me.
I don’t get on calls with people to beg them to engage my services, nor do I tell them that other resume writers are bad so that they will work with me.
I don’t need to.
I don’t like begging or being salesy and sleazy, nor do I think it’s empowering to put down another writer or coach. If anything it says something about that person who does.
You can employ attraction marketing to do the same.
Doing this means that instead of chasing down jobs and begging for them, your prospective employer or recruiter either asks you to apply for the job or already has a good idea that you are their preferred candidate for the role when they ask you in for an interview.
You see, when you’re marketing yourself in this way, it isn’t as hard to convince hiring managers at the interview that you’re the right person for the role because all you have to do is make them certain you are the right person with the consistent messaging you have already put out there.
That is the best part of learning attraction marketing.
No begging and being embarrassed, no longer being ignored and feeling unwanted, you are hired because you are great at what you do and because they just want you!
So what do you need to do?
1. Understand your “why”. Why do you want that job? Why are you the best fit over someone else?
2. What makes you unique? What is your personal brand? What do people know you for?
3. Have an aligned and targeted job application (resume/CV, cover letter and key selection criteria)
4. Get your LinkedIn profile optimised so they can find you first and make sure it’s consistent with the overall message in all your job application documents
